Regional E-commerce Director

A fast-growing consumer products company is seeking an experienced Regional Marketplace Director to lead commercial performance, operational excellence, and strategic growth across online marketplaces.

This senior leadership role carries full regional P&L accountability and oversees all marketplace operations, including sales, account management, supply chain, inventory planning, finance, compliance, and team leadership. The successful candidate will combine strong commercial acumen, deep online marketplace expertise, and operational discipline to scale the region sustainably.

Role Purpose

Reporting to the Executive Leadership Team, the Regional E-commerce Director will drive profitable growth, ensure operational efficiency, and deliver a best-in-class customer experience across online marketplaces. This is a hands-on leadership role suited to someone who thrives in a fast-paced e-commerce environment and can balance strategic planning with day-to-day execution.

Key Responsibilities

Business Leadership & Strategy

  • Regional strategy development — Build and execute regional growth strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • P&L ownership — Deliver revenue, profit, cash flow, and operational targets.
  • Growth opportunity identification — Expand product, marketplace, channel, and territory performance.
  • Commercial direction — Provide strategic leadership to maximize long-term value creation.
  • Executive collaboration — Support business planning, investment decisions, and organizational scaling.

Marketplace & Commercial Performance

  • Oversee all marketplace operations and account health.
  • Sales & profitability growth — Increase revenue, margin, market share, and performance metrics.
  • Pricing & advertising optimisation — Manage pricing, promotions, advertising, listings, and product performance.
  • Compliance management — Ensure adherence to external partner policies and marketplace standards.
  • Stakeholder relationship building — Maintain strong relationships with external partners.

Operations & Supply Chain

  • Operational leadership — Ensure efficient, scalable, customer-focused regional operations.
  • Inventory & forecasting — Oversee demand planning, replenishment, fulfilment, and logistics.
  • Working capital optimisation — Improve stock availability and supply chain efficiency.
  • Continuous improvement — Drive productivity, service levels, and operational effectiveness.

Finance, Governance & Risk

  • Financial planning & forecasting — Lead budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.
  • Financial reporting & controls — Ensure accurate reporting and statutory compliance.
  • Cash flow & profitability management — Manage working capital, inventory investment, and margin improvement.
  • Governance & risk oversight — Lead audit, tax, compliance, and risk activities.

Leadership & People Management

Requirements

  • Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Supply Chain, or related field.
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA, MBA or equivalent preferred.
  • 10+ years’ leadership experience in e-commerce, retail, or marketplace environments.
  • Proven P&L ownership with strong commercial and financial capability.
  • Strong operational, inventory, and supply chain management expertise.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams in high-growth environments.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.

Desirable

  • Multi-national online marketplace leadership.
  • ERP, BI, or financial reporting system implementation experience.
  • Exposure to international finance, tax, and compliance.
