About The Role
Provide professional engineering leadership for Buildings & Civils engineering including individual and functional capability; strategy; technical advice and guidance; safety, assurance, derogations and non-compliances.

- Lead regional business planning for Buildings & Civils, delivering sustainable levels of asset integrity and performance to meet customer requirements and regional/national targets.
- Provide a strong customer focus balancing the views of a range of senior stakeholders.
Package: This role sits within Band 1B, Zone 1. In addition to the base salary, you'll receive a Band 1 car allowance (subject to not already receiving safeguarded travel benefits).
Location: The successful candidate can be based in London (Euston), Milton Keynes, Birmingham or Manchester.
As this is a role in a regional team, regular travel across NW&C is required. Candidates should be comfortable with frequent travel to client sites, regional offices, or other business locations as needed.
Assessments will take place in Birmingham and consist of a competency-based interview plus presentation to be prepared in advance.

Your Experience And Skills
What you'll be doing:
As the senior engineering lead for your discipline, you will provide strategic leadership and technical oversight to ensure compliance with legislation, company standards, and asset management policies. You will develop and inspire engineering capability across the region, driving the delivery of safe, reliable, and sustainable asset performance. Working closely with regional stakeholders and the Technical Authority, you will shape engineering strategy, provide expert guidance on standards and asset risk, and lead assurance activities that support long-term business objectives. You will champion continuous improvement, influence national policy development, and oversee the management of technical compliance, engineering governance, and asset performance planning. Where required, you will also lead specialist engineering teams and provide expert discipline-specific support to optimise asset outcomes across the region.

For the Buildings & Civils discipline, you will also oversee the structural assessment programme for civil assets, providing expert advice and assurance to support evidence-based asset management decisions and ensure the continued safety and integrity of structural assets.
What You'll Have
- Registered Engineer at CEng level with the Engineering Council
- Proven experience of successfully managing a large complex and diverse asset base, particularly related to renewals, enhancements and system integration
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant asset systems, engineering standards and process integrity
- Demonstrate strong customer focus in a multi-disciplinary team
- Proven experience of leading successful negotiations at a senior level and balancing the views of a range of stakeholders
- Proven knowledge of the strategic management of safety
We would also like but it isn't crucial to have/to be:
- Level 7 under the Regulated Qualification Framework in a relevant engineering discipline
- Fellow of either an appropriate institution or the Institute of Asset Management
- Proven experience in the management of engineering processes, assets and components
