Regional Health and Safety Manager

Across the infrastructure sector, there is a constant requirement not only to maintain essential assets, but also to renew and improve them for the future. About the Role

Working within the across the Infrastructure projects (Rail, Aviation, Defence, Power, Highways) you will play a key role in supporting the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK.

As Regional Health and Safety Manager, you will be responsible for leading health, safety and wellbeing performance across the region, driving a culture of continuous improvement and ensuring the highest standards of compliance, governance and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Health, Safety and Wellbeing activities across the region, providing visible and effective leadership.
  • Develop and support operational teams while advising senior leaders on governance, compliance and performance improvement.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, industry standards and company policies.
  • Oversee risk management processes, auditing programmes and assurance activities across multiple contracts.
  • Drive the achievement of an incident-free culture through the reduction of injuries, environmental impacts and operational risks.
  • Promote employee wellbeing, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement programmes.
  • Monitor and analyse performance data, identifying trends and providing actionable insights to operational leaders and clients.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with clients, regulators and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead incident investigations, identify root causes, communicate lessons learned and manage escalations where required.
  • Develop team capability, champion inclusion and diversity initiatives, and lead organisational change effectively.
  • Act as a role model for company values and behaviours.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) leadership experience within complex, multi-site operational environments.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • NEBOSH Diploma, NVQ Level 6, or equivalent Health and Safety qualification.
  • Chartered IOSH (CMIOSH) status or actively working towards chartership.
  • Significant senior Health and Safety leadership experience across multi-site operations.
  • Proven experience leading and developing high-performing teams.
  • Strong incident investigation and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) capability.
  • Experience delivering performance improvements through data analysis, reporting and insight generation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to align strategic decisions to business objectives and performance.

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Experience of auditing and compliance management.
  • Knowledge of ISO management systems.
  • Infrastructure, highways or civil engineering sector experience.
  • Experience with digital safety management platforms and reporting systems.
  • Wellbeing programme development and implementation.
  • Flexible, resilient and results-driven approach.
