About the Role

You won’t be sitting on the sidelines waiting for month-end. You’ll work directly with senior commercial and operational leaders, helping them understand where the business is going, what is driving it, and what should be done next. You’ll have a top 10 accounting background and a keen interest to break into finance business partnering utilising your excellent communication skills that allow you to become a trusted financial adviser to key business areas, owning the relationship with senior stakeholders and bringing commercial insight to everything from strategic planning and investment decisions to performance improvement and forecasting.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
Responsibilities
- Partnering with senior leaders to drive performance, profitability and sustainable growth.
- Turning complex financial data into clear, compelling commercial insight.
- Challenging assumptions and asking the questions others might not.
- Identifying risks, opportunities and the financial consequences of strategic decisions.
- Building business cases for major investments and transformation programmes.
- Improving the quality, visibility and usability of management information.
- Supporting monthly performance reviews — moving the conversation from “what happened?” to “what do we do about it?”
This isn’t a finance role where success is measured by how quickly you can produce the numbers. We’re looking for someone who is naturally curious about the business behind the numbers. Someone who can walk into a room with a senior stakeholder, spot the story hidden inside a set of figures, and confidently say: “Here’s what I think is happening. Here’s why. And here’s what I think we should do.”
