Finance Director
A successful and high-growth business is looking for a commercially driven Finance Director to help shape the future of one of its most important business areas. Sitting at the heart of the operation, you'll influence strategic direction, challenge thinking, and play a pivotal role in accelerating growth, improving performance, and driving change.
This opportunity would suit an ambitious finance leader who thrives in fast-paced environments, enjoys working closely with operational leadership teams, and wants genuine influence over business outcomes rather than simply reporting them.
As a key member of the senior leadership team, you'll lead a substantial finance function while acting as the financial voice behind critical commercial and operational decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Acting as the strategic finance lead for a major business unit with significant revenue and operational complexity.
- Partnering with senior leaders to identify opportunities to increase profitability, optimise performance, and support growth.
- Turning financial data into actionable insight that drives better decision-making across the business.
- Leading the budgeting, forecasting, and long-term planning process.
- Challenging and supporting investment decisions, pricing strategies, and operational initiatives.
- Driving accountability for financial performance across multiple stakeholder groups.
- Building, coaching, and inspiring a high-performing finance team.
- Championing process improvement, efficiency initiatives, and business transformation programmes.
- Ensuring a robust control environment and maintaining high standards of governance.
- Working closely with executive leadership on business strategy, performance reviews, and future planning.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
