Salary

Make your mark on site safety within a growing fire protection business.
Good health and safety starts with understanding the work, building relationships and helping people make the right decisions.
At FDIS, we’re looking for a Regional Health & Safety Advisor who can do exactly that. Someone comfortable walking a live site, talking with the teams delivering the work and turning observations into practical improvements.
FDIS specialises in fire door inspection, maintenance and installation. As part of IDSL Group and the wider PTSG business, we’re developing our safety systems and strengthening the support available to our operational teams. This is your opportunity to contribute to that work while taking ownership of day-to-day safety across our Southern projects.
About the role
Reporting to the Head of Health, Safety & Environment, you’ll work closely with project managers, site supervisors and delivery teams to keep safety standards clear, consistent and practical.
Site visits will be a central part of your role. You’ll review working practices, check that RAMS reflect the tasks being undertaken, identify risks and help teams put the right controls in place.
Alongside this, you’ll support incident investigations, reporting and the development of our management systems. You’ll have the backing of the Head of Health, Safety & Environment, the quality team and colleagues across the wider Group.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out site inspections and audits, agreeing corrective actions and following them through to completion.
- Reviewing risk assessments and method statements, helping ensure they are suitable for the work and understood by the teams using them.
- Providing practical advice on construction safety, CDM requirements and safe working practices.
- Investigating accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and sharing lessons learned.
- Delivering toolbox talks and safety communications that engage the people doing the work.
- Supporting the introduction and use of VATIX for incident recording and reporting.
- Maintaining accurate safety data and contributing to monthly PTSG scorecards and performance reports.
- Supporting the development of ISO 45001 and associated quality and environmental management systems.
- Assisting with fire and emergency arrangements, accreditation requirements and safety information for bids and tenders.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we’re looking for
You’ll bring a solid background in construction health and safety and the confidence to manage site visits, inspections and investigations independently.
You may currently work in joinery, fit-out, refurbishment, passive fire protection or another construction setting. Knowledge of fire doors would be useful, but a strong understanding of site safety and the ability to work effectively with operational teams matter most.
You’ll need:
- NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum.
- A practical understanding of construction risks and CDM Regulations.
- The ability to review RAMS and assess whether working practices meet the required standards.
- A track record of completing inspections and supporting accident or incident investigations.
- Clear report-writing skills and confidence using Microsoft 365 and digital reporting systems.
- An organised approach to planning visits, managing priorities and closing out actions.
- The ability to build trust, explain requirements clearly and challenge unsafe practices professionally.
- The ability to travel regularly across the region.
NEBOSH Construction or Fire, an ISO internal auditor qualification, IOSH membership or knowledge of passive fire protection would strengthen your application. However, additional qualifications and knowledge can be developed, with training and support provided.
Why join FDIS?
You’ll have the opportunity to influence how safety is managed across live projects and contribute to systems that are still being developed.
