Regional Health & Safety Manager; Morris Homes (North) Ltd

Description

Morris Homes is seeking to recruit a Regional Health & Safety Manager to work within its Northern operations on new build residential housing developments located across the north-west region of England.

The integration of health and safety within the day-to-day activities of the business is a crucial aspect in protecting people and ensuring that the Company fulfils its statutory obligations. It’s therefore important that in addition to having health & safety experience within the construction sector, that the successful candidate is an effective communicator with good interpersonal skills.

The Role

Based from the Group’s Head Office in Wilmslow and reporting to the Group Health & Safety Director, duties will include:

  • Ensuring that Company policies and standards are implemented and maintained.
  • Assisting in the review of existing health and safety policies, procedures, standards, and practices.
  • Assisting in the compilation of Pre-Construction Information, Construction Phase Plans, and H&S files.
  • Undertaking site audits and inspections, identifying areas for improvement, and reporting on the findings to senior staff.
  • Attending safety meetings, including Safety Pre-Start Meetings where external Principal Contractors are engaged.
  • For accidents which attract RIDDOR or other potentially serious incidents, conduct detailed accident investigations.
  • Assisting internal Planning & Design Departments with the production of Construction Environmental Management Plans for the purpose of demonstrating that construction nuisance and environmental risks are suitably controlled.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments, site management teams, and subcontractors to ensure the effective implementation of health and safety controls across our operations.

  • Minimum 5 years previous experience within a UK construction H&S role.
  • NEBOSH Certificate (General or Construction) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Environmental qualification desirable.
  • Detailed and working knowledge of current Health & Safety Regulations, including CDM.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, including the ability to work unsupervised or as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate confidently and professionally and to resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication with good IT skills.
