HSEQ Manager (Regional – Gloucester / Banbury)

We are seeking an experienced HSEQ Manager to support our salvage and waste management operations across Gloucester and Banbury. This opportunity is perfect for a professional who is passionate about safety, legal compliance, and continuous improvement. You’ll work closely with operational teams to ensure our sites operate efficiently within regulatory guidelines while fostering a positive HSEQ culture.
About the Role
As the HSEQ Manager, you will lead, guide, and ensure compliance across multiple operational sites, driving excellence in safety, environmental management, and quality systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting and maintaining HSEQ management systems across vehicle recycling and salvage operations (incl. ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001).
- Developing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and safe systems of work to mitigate operational hazards.
- Ensuring compliance with UK health & safety legislation, environmental permits, waste management regulations, and ELV requirements.
- Conducting audits, inspections, and monitoring compliance across all sites.
- Investigating incidents, near misses, and environmental events, identifying root causes and driving corrective actions.
- Supporting fire risk assessments, emergency planning, and pollution prevention measures.
- Delivering engaging HSEQ training and coaching to operational teams.
- Collaborating with regulators, auditors, contractors, and customers to maintain compliance.
- Leading continuous improvement initiatives that enhance safety, environmental performance, and operational efficiency.

What We’re Looking For
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Nebosh General Certificate (or equivalent) required.
- WAMITAB Level 4 qualification in Waste & Resource Management.
- Previous experience in ELV processing, Authorised Treatment Facilities (ATFs), waste management, metal recycling, salvage, or high-risk industrial sectors.
- Strong knowledge of UK safety, health, and environmental legislation.
- Experience managing hazardous materials, depollution processes, pollution prevention, and fire risk controls.
- Ability to interpret regulations and operational requirements into practical site procedures.
- Excellent communication, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable (but not essential)
- Membership of IOSH, IEMA, CIWM, or another relevant professional body.
- Previous experience with permitted waste sites or regulatory compliance.
- Internal/Audit Lead qualifications (e.g., ISO 9001, ISO 14001, etc.).
- Experience managing contractors and third-party suppliers.
- Knowledge of hybrid/electric vehicles, particularly lithium-ion battery risks and emergency response.
