HR Business Partner – Education
Runcorn Area | Hybrid working | £50,000–£54,000
12-month fixed-term contract | Occasional travel to Stoke-on-Trent
We are recruiting an experienced HR Business Partner to support a complex, multi-site education organisation.
Based primarily around Runcorn, you will work closely with Academics and leadership teams and regional stakeholders, providing trusted and pragmatic HR guidance across complex employee relations, organisational change and wider people priorities.
This is a hands-on business partnering role with genuine autonomy. You will manage your own portfolio, build the confidence of leaders and help resolve sensitive people matters fairly and effectively.
This busy and varied role will entail:
- Leading complex employee-relations cases involving absence, capability, conduct, grievances and organisational change.
- Advising Principals, leadership teams and managers on employment law, policy and people-related risk.
- Building effective relationships with recognised trade unions.
- Supporting workforce planning, recruitment and attraction.
- Using HR data to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Coaching managers and local HR teams to strengthen their people-management capability.
- Supporting cultural and organisational-change programmes.
- Assisting with the onboarding of new sites, including TUPE and employee-data transfers.
- Contributing to practical, compliant and accessible HR policies.
- Sharing insight and best practice across the wider People team.

Applicants must have:
- Proven experience operating at HR Business Partner level.
- Strong employee-relations expertise and confidence managing complex casework.
- Experience advising and influencing senior leaders.
- Sound knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
- Experience working with trade unions and supporting organisational change.
- CIPD qualification or equivalent professional experience.
- Experience within education would be highly advantageous.

The role is primarily based around Runcorn with hybrid working and occasional travel to Stoke-on-Trent. Candidates must be able to travel between sites when required.
