Regional L&D Trainer
At Tortilla, we believe great people development is key to building brilliant teams, strong leaders, and great restaurants. We are looking for a Regional L&D Trainer to join our People Team and play a key role in shaping and delivering Learning & Development across both the UK and France.
This is a hands-on, highly visible role for someone who loves being close to the operation, enjoys developing people at all levels, and is excited by the opportunity to support the continued development of our UK teams while also helping us build and strengthen our L&D approach in France.
This is a UK-based role with a primary focus on supporting the continued development of our UK teams and operations, alongside regular responsibility for Learning & Development activity in France.
France will be a significant focus initially as we establish stronger learning foundations, career pathways, and leadership development across the French business. Over time, the role will maintain a strong UK focus while continuing to support and develop our France operation through regular travel and close partnership with local teams.
Reporting to our Head of Learning & Development, you’ll work closely with our wider L&D and People teams, Operations, and leaders across both markets.
An important requirement
Professional fluency in both French and English is essential for this role.
A significant part of the role will involve delivering training, facilitating workshops, coaching managers, and communicating with teams directly in French.
Key Responsibilities
- You will support learning and development activity across both the UK and France, with the majority of your time focused on our UK teams and operations.
- In the UK, you will work alongside the existing L&D team to support the delivery and continued development of learning programmes, management and leadership development, onboarding, career development, and operational training across the business.
- Alongside this, a major initial priority will be helping us strengthen the foundations of Learning & Development within our France business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What we are looking for
You’ll have strong experience within Learning & Development, Training, Talent Development, or People Development, ideally within a fast-paced, operational, or multi-site environment.
You will also be:
- Professionally fluent in both French and English, written and spoken – this is essential, and applicants without this will not be considered.
- Confident delivering training, workshops, and coaching sessions entirely in French as well as in English.
- An engaging and confident facilitator who is comfortable delivering learning at different organizational levels.
- Experienced in designing and delivering management and leadership development.
- Comfortable working collaboratively within L&D and People teams and with stakeholders across the wider business.
- Someone who thrives on working with others, building alignment, and influencing rather than operating in isolation.
- Highly organized and able to manage multiple priorities across different locations.
- Commercially aware and able to connect learning activity with business performance.
- Comfortable using LMS and digital learning solutions.
- Comfortable travelling regularly between the UK and France, including overnight stays where required.
Experience within hospitality, restaurants, QSR, retail, or another high-volume customer-facing environment would be a real advantage.
Why this role?
This is an opportunity to have a genuine impact across two markets.
You’ll join an established UK L&D team and play an important role in supporting the continued development of our UK teams, managers, and leaders.
At the same time, you’ll have the opportunity to help shape the next stage of Learning & Development in France — creating stronger training foundations, clearer career pathways, and a sustainable approach to developing our future leaders.
While the role will remain primarily focused on the UK, there will be a strong focus on France initially as we establish and embed the right L&D foundations.
