Our Vacancy
Join the National Governance Association and help strengthen school and trust governance across the North West. As Regional Lead for the North West, you will play a key role in raising NGA’s regional profile, building strong partnerships and increasing the reach and impact of NGA’s membership, training, consultancy and e-learning services. You will work closely with local authorities, multi-academy trusts, dioceses, governance associations and other regional partners to understand local needs, identify opportunities and develop relationships that support governors, trustees and governance professionals across the region.
What You’ll Do
- Lead NGA’s regional engagement and business development activity across the North West, acting as a knowledgeable and trusted representative for NGA and helping ensure our services respond to the needs of schools, trusts and governance networks.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with regional partners and key stakeholders, including local authorities, MATs, dioceses and governance associations.
- Raise NGA’s profile locally and regionally through networking, partnership development, events, presentations and workshops.
- Support and strengthen local associations of governors and trustees, helping them connect with NGA’s services and wider governance expertise.
- Gather intelligence on regional governance needs, challenges, risks and opportunities to inform NGA’s services, guidance and national policy discussions.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow NGA membership, Learning Link, consultancy, training and other services.
- Develop and manage a regional business pipeline using NGA systems, contributing to regional and organisational income targets.
- Maintain strong relationships with members, partners and customers to support renewals, service quality and long-term engagement.
- Represent NGA at regional events and contribute to the development of national and regional conferences, local programmes and networking opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across NGA, sharing regional insight to improve services, products, guidance and e-learning.

What You’ll Bring
- Strong knowledge of school and trust governance in England, alongside the confidence and credibility to represent NGA externally and build productive partnerships across the education sector.
- In-depth understanding of school and trust governance in England.
- Understanding of regional and local public sector structures, particularly within education.
- Proven experience in business development, partnership development or stakeholder engagement.
- A strong track record of building effective relationships with individuals, networks and partner organisations.
- Experience delivering governance development sessions, workshops, training or presentations to a range of audiences.
- Confidence identifying opportunities, developing proposals and creating offers that respond to partner needs.
- Excellent communication, networking, negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accurate records.
- Commercial awareness and commitment to achieving targets while maintaining high standards of service.
- Confidence using systems to manage contacts, activity, pipelines and customer information.
- An engaging, enthusiastic and professional approach, with the ability to assess risks and make clear recommendations.
- Readiness to travel across the region and occasionally to NGA’s Birmingham office.

What We Offer
- Salary of £17,200 to £21,240 per annum depending on experience (£43,000 to £53,100 FTE)
- Part-time role: 2 days per week / 15 hours
- Homebased working, with travel across the North West and occasional attendance at NGA’s Birmingham office
- 25 days’ annual leave FTE, plus bank holidays and three days Christmas closure, increasing with continuous service
- 7% employer pension contribution
