About the Role

The Regional Operations Director is responsible for overseeing a portfolio of projects and ensuring clients receive exceptional service, with a focus on meeting their needs. This includes serving as the primary point of contact, assessing project status, and managing escalated issues. Regional Operations Directors will also contribute to the strategic development of their region, supporting both current and future growth in alignment with the company’s overall strategy.

Appointed at a senior level within the organization, Regional Operations Directors play a key role in shaping the company's strategic direction and growth initiatives.

In collaboration with their Project Directors, Regional Operations Directors will lead project teams to successfully deliver projects, adhering to an established, structured approach tailored to the scale of each project and the specific needs of the client.

Role Responsibilities & Deliverables

  • Lead and manage a team of Project Directors, Project Managers, Commercial Leads, and Lead Engineers.
  • Provide regular updates on client account status to the broader business.
  • Ensure the commercial viability of client accounts is maintained.
  • Foster consistent communication with clients to ensure their needs are met.
  • Communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) for each project to the Project Director and Operations Director on a regular basis.
  • Collaborate with the Business Development team to inform and develop client-specific strategies by providing ongoing updates on account performance.
  • Receive and assess regular project performance reports from Project Directors, Contracts Managers, and Project Managers to inform client communications.
  • Exercise authority to approve changes to project programs, milestones, and resources during the project lifecycle.
  • Attend major project and principal meetings with clients, as well as monthly internal project meetings to address any questions from senior management.
  • Ensure adherence to H&MV policies and standards by the Operations Team and Project Directors.
  • Ensure efficient collaboration between project teams and supporting departments, including safety, procurement, quality, and planning.
  • Report on the performance of client accounts to the Managing Director and Operations Director.
  • Identify and manage project and client account risks with support from the Operations and Business Development teams.
  • Ensure accuracy in project commercials and that proper processes are followed.
  • Work closely with Operations Directors and Project Directors to monitor and resolve project issues in a timely manner.
  • Review contract documentation prior to signing to ensure accuracy of program schedules, milestone timelines, commercials, scope of work, and risk registers.
  • Assume overall responsibility for the successful performance of client accounts in collaboration with the respective Project Director.
  • Participate in the recruitment process for Project Directors.
  • Support HR in the onboarding process for key personnel.
  • Provide mentorship to Project Directors by offering feedback and insights related to client accounts.

Client Engagement Role

  • Oversee business development activities and the project pipeline for assigned clients, taking the lead in all initial client interactions.
  • Spearhead tender development efforts in collaboration with Business Development and Tendering teams, ensuring alignment and obtaining sign-off before submission.
  • Lead initial discussions and tenders with clients from both design and delivery perspectives up until tender submission.
