We have a fantastic opportunity for a Regional Planning and Project Controller to join our vibrant, inclusive community that celebrates our differences and makes a real impact across our Scotland and Northern Ireland portfolios.
What will the role offer?
Working at Amey puts you at the center of an expert team, with the opportunity to provide strategic leadership across planning, programme controls, governance and performance management for major Highways and Infrastructure portfolios.
In this senior leadership role, you will:
- Own the Programme Controls Strategy
- Develop capability
- Embed robust processes
- Provide high-quality insight to senior leadership to support operational performance, commercial value, and successful outcomes across complex infrastructure programmes

What you will be doing
- Lead the Planning and Project Controls strategy across Highways and Infrastructure programmes.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve programme controls frameworks, standards, and assurance processes.
- Provide senior leadership across planning, scheduling, cost control, risk management, change control, resource management, and completion management.
- Oversee integrated programme and project schedules, including critical path analysis, baseline management, progress measurement, and forecasting.
- Produce high-quality reporting for senior leadership, including dashboards, KPIs, variance analysis, trend insights, and forward-looking forecasts.
- Provide constructive challenge to project teams on delivery confidence, resource assumptions, commercial impacts, and risk exposure.
- Work closely with commercial, finance, procurement, and operational delivery teams to ensure planning and controls activity supports delivery, value, and risk management.
- Act as a senior interface with clients, suppliers, delivery partners, and internal leadership teams, influencing through clear communication, credible analysis, and strategic insight.
- Champion a proactive safety culture and support compliance with organisational safety policies and reporting requirements.

We want to hear from you if you have:
- Significant senior-level experience in programme or project planning and project controls within Highways, Infrastructure, or major capital delivery environments.
- A track record of leading planning and controls functions across large programmes or portfolios.
- Strong understanding of cost management, schedule management, risk, change, estimating, and value management.
- Experience developing and embedding governance frameworks, processes, and reporting standards.
- Confidence using data to provide senior-level insight, challenge, and recommendations.
- Strong leadership capability, including experience managing teams through complexity and change.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence at all organisational levels.
- Advanced capability in planning and controls tools such as Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, Excel, Power BI, and other relevant systems.
- A degree in a relevant discipline, equivalent demonstrable experience, or membership of a relevant professional body with Chartered Status.
