Company Description
ASAN-UK is the first national organization dedicated to American students studying in the United Kingdom, supporting members from arrival through graduation and beyond. The organization builds a sustainable, student-led community through national and regional events, networking opportunities across universities, and postgraduate and career fairs. ASAN-UK advocates for American students within UK higher education, ensuring their needs and perspectives are represented. The student committee offers meaningful leadership opportunities and practical experience in organizing initiatives that benefit the wider community.
Role Description
The Regional Representative for the South West is a part-time, hybrid role, combining on-site responsibilities in the South West with some work from home. Day-to-day tasks include:
- Organizing and promoting local events
- Supporting outreach to American students in the region
- Maintaining regular communication with the national ASAN-UK team
- Building relationships with university societies, student services, and relevant stakeholders to increase awareness of ASAN-UK and its activities
- Creating regional newsletters or updates
- Managing social media or communication channels for the area
- Gathering feedback from students to help shape future programming

The Regional Representative is also expected to:

- Attend periodic meetings
- Contribute to national initiatives
- Help coordinate regional participation in larger ASAN-UK events
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage diverse student communities and present information clearly.
- Organizational and event-planning skills, with experience or interest in coordinating meetings, socials, or workshops.
- Basic digital literacy, including comfort with email, social media platforms, and online collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Google Workspace).
- Relationship-building and networking skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with university staff, student groups, and external partners.
- Self-motivation and time management skills, with the ability to work independently in a hybrid environment and balance role responsibilities with academic commitments.
- Understanding or lived experience of studying in the UK as an American student (or comparable international student experience) is highly beneficial.
- Current enrollment at a university in the South West or near Exeter, along with an interest in student advocacy, community building, and cross-cultural engagement.
