I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

About the role
We're looking for a driven, commercially minded Regional Sales Manager to grow our on-trade business across our home territory. It's a field-based role focused on new business: getting out into the trade, opening accounts and securing permanent listings, while developing the customers we already have.
Reporting to the Head of On-Trade Sales, you'll have clear targets, real ownership of your patch and the freedom to build it.
Key responsibilities
- Prospect and win new on-trade customers, securing permanent draught lines and packaged listings.
- Grow volume, range and rate of sale with existing customers, including selling in our seasonal and special releases.
- Drive profitable growth through a solid grip on pricing, margin and commercial terms.
- Work with wholesalers such as LWC and Matthew Clark to grow distribution.
- Deliver tastings, staff training and events with Marketing, and represent us at trade events and festivals.
- Plan your territory and keep accurate pipeline and forecasting information.
About you
You enjoy selling and you're confident getting in front of customers. You're organised, persistent and know that selling drinks is about more than dropping off samples. Ideally, you already know the North West hospitality scene.

You'll bring
- A proven track record of winning new business, ideally in beer, drinks or FMCG.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, and good commercial awareness.
- The ability to manage your own diary and work towards targets.
- A genuine interest in beer and hospitality.
- A full UK driving licence.
Existing relationships with North West operators, wholesaler experience or a record of winning draught listings would be a real plus. Craft beer knowledge helps, but great salespeople matter more.
What we offer
- £30,000 to £37,000 salary depending on experience, OTE £38,000 to £45,000
- Monthly and quarterly uncapped commission
- Company car allowance
- Flexibility to work from home on planning and admin days
- Company pension
- Regular team socials and events
- The chance to progress within a growing independent brewery
