The Opportunity
Our client is a long-established market leader providing operational equipment, asset support services, and critical project solutions to customers across infrastructure, construction, industrial, and engineering environments.
With a strong reputation built over decades, the business is entering an exciting phase of growth and is looking to appoint a Regional Business Development Manager to drive commercial performance across North Scotland (covering all territories north of Perth).
This is not a role for someone looking to manage existing accounts alone. The successful individual will be a recognised name within the region, with established relationships across Tier 1 contractors, major projects, principal contractors, and key decision-makers. You'll be responsible for identifying opportunities, winning new business, and strengthening strategic customer relationships across the territory.
Industry experience within heavy equipment, plant, machinery, construction services, or related sectors would be advantageous, but it is not essential. What matters most is a proven ability to open doors, influence senior stakeholders, and consistently deliver commercial growth within the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a regional business development strategy focused on profitable growth across North Scotland.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new business opportunities with Tier 1 contractors, major infrastructure projects, and strategic customers.
- Leverage an existing network of industry relationships to generate immediate commercial impact.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, procurement teams, and operational leaders.
- Manage complex commercial negotiations, proposals, tenders, and contract discussions.
- Work closely with operational and commercial teams to ensure excellent customer delivery and account growth.
- Maintain an active pipeline of opportunities and provide accurate sales forecasting.
- Represent the business at industry events, customer meetings, and networking forums throughout the region.
- Monitor market activity, competitor movements, and emerging project opportunities.
- Deliver against agreed revenue, margin, and growth targets.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
