Why now

There was a time when this business set the standard for power transmission in Britain. We are honest about the fact that we let some of that ground go. We are equally clear that we intend to take it back.

The engineering was never the problem. Fifty years of designing, building and testing drives in the UK is not something you can buy in, and our gearboxes still run in the places where a failure stops a production line. What has changed is the pace. We are investing in the products, tightening the processes, replacing the systems and building the team out region by region.

The business is still led in part by the founder's family, so the thread back to the beginning has not been cut. But this is not a company living off its history. It is one using it as a foundation.

The Midlands is the next piece of that. Whoever takes this role will be shaping the territory rather than inheriting it, in a company that will not look the same in two years as it does today. That is the opportunity, and it is not the right one for everybody. It is the right one for someone who wants to build something and does not need to be told how.

What you will be doing

This is a technical, long-cycle OEM sale. Our sales cycles are long, technical and consultative, and the responsibilities below reflect that rather than volume selling.

Own the territory

  • Take responsibility for revenue and account development across the Midlands.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of OEM manufacturers and resellers across our core sectors: food processing, water and environmental systems, recycling and waste management, heavy-duty manufacturing, logistics and refrigerated transport, and access control and parking systems.
  • Identify where a Brown GearTech gearbox or motor system is the right answer, and where it is not.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Only hits

No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.

Get into the application

  • Visit customer sites and understand the machine, the duty cycle and the environment the drive has to survive.
  • Gather the information our engineers need to specify correctly first time: loads, speeds, mounting, ingress protection, duty and applicable standards.
  • Work alongside our UK design and engineering team on specification, prototyping and problem-solving.

Manage the long sale

  • Support OEM design and engineering teams through development cycles that can run for months.
  • Work with procurement on lead times, stockholding and supply confidence.
  • Keep resellers supported with fast, honest answers and transparent pricing.

Grow existing accounts

  • Protect and develop the accounts already established in the region.
  • Spot follow-on opportunities: new machine programmes, redesigns, retrofits and replacement of underperforming drives.

Keep the business informed

  • Maintain accurate records and forecasting in our internal CRM system, built and customised around how we sell.
  • Feed competitor activity, pricing pressure and sector movement back into the business.

Who we are looking for

Essential

  • Proven field sales or account management experience in a B2B industrial, engineering or manufacturing environment.
  • Comfortable talking to engineers and to procurement professionals, and able to switch register between the two.
  • Genuinely curious about how things work, and willing to get onto a factory floor to find out.
  • A self-starter. You will be running your own region, on your own initiative, and nobody will be checking your diary.
  • Comfortable in a business that is changing quickly. We are improving our products, our processes and our systems, and the role will change shape as we grow.
  • Full UK driving licence.

Advantageous

  • Technical knowledge of power transmission: gearboxes, geared motors, drives, motors or related mechanical components.
  • Experience selling into OEMs rather than end users.
  • An existing network across Midlands manufacturing.
  • An engineering qualification, or a background on the tools or in a technical office.

What we offer

  • A competitive salary, benchmarked against current market rates rather than whatever the last person was paid.
  • Commission on what you sell, plus a share of company profit, so the region you build pays you back.
  • Company car or car allowance.
  • Products designed, built and tested in the UK, so you can stand behind every word you say to a customer.
  • Direct access to the engineers who design the product, not a support ticket queue.
  • A region to own outright, rather than a script and a call target.
  • Internal and external training.
  • A monthly reading allowance.
