SES is seeking an ambitious and influential Regional Technical Director to lead the technical function across our Central region, a high performing and growing business unit that is delivering approximately £200m of complex and technically challenging MEP services across a diverse portfolio of sectors.
About The Role
We are looking for a strategic and forward-thinking leader who can build on the region's strong reputation for technical excellence, successful project delivery and trusted client relationships. With an exceptional pipeline of opportunities, clear growth ambitions and involvement in some of the UK's most prestigious and exciting projects, this is a unique opportunity to play a leading role in shaping the future direction of a successful and ambitious business.
As a member of the regional Senior Leadership Team, you will provide independent and authoritative technical leadership and governance across the region. Leading a highly talented multidisciplinary team of technical professionals, you will be responsible for driving excellence in engineering, design, innovation and technical assurance, while creating an environment where people can continue to develop, thrive and perform at their best.
Working closely with colleagues across design and engineering, preconstruction, operations, commercial and business improvement, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening our work-winning capability, managing technical risk and delivering high quality, best value solutions for our customers.
This is far more than a functional leadership position. As a key member of the regional leadership team, you will help influence strategy, support sustainable growth, develop technical capability and contribute to the decisions that shape the future success of the Central region. For an ambitious leader looking to combine technical excellence with strategic influence, this is an outstanding opportunity to make a lasting impact within a dynamic and growing business.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
