Regional Technical Sales Engineer – Aerospace & Defence

Location: Home-Based | Northern England & Scotland
Salary: Competitive + Bonus + Company Car/EV + Benefits

Are you an Electrical/Electronic Engineer or technically minded sales professional looking to take the next step in your career? This is an excellent opportunity to join an established UK manufacturer specialising in high-performance cable harnesses and electro-mechanical assemblies supplied into demanding Aerospace, Defence, Space and advanced engineering applications. We are looking for a Regional Technical Sales Engineer to take ownership of the Northern England and Scotland territory, developing existing customer relationships while identifying and winning new business.

This is a home-based, customer-facing role and would suit someone based around Manchester, Lancashire, Yorkshire, the North East or Central Scotland who enjoys combining technical engineering knowledge with commercial activity.

The Role

You will become the technical and commercial point of contact for customers across your territory, developing relationships with engineering, procurement and commercial teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing new customers and business opportunities across Northern England and Scotland
  • Managing and growing existing customer relationships
  • Visiting customers to understand their technical requirements and applications
  • Providing technically credible advice around product range
  • Working with customers from initial enquiry through to quotation and order
  • Identifying opportunities for new designs, product development and design-in activity
  • Working closely with engineering, manufacturing and sales teams to develop customer solutions
  • Preparing quotations, proposals and presentations
  • Maintaining a healthy sales pipeline and CRM activity
  • Attending customer meetings, exhibitions and relevant industry events

What we're looking for

We are particularly interested in candidates with a background in:

  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering
  • Electromechanical engineering
  • Cable harnesses / wiring systems / EWIS
  • Electrical or electronic components
  • Connectors and interconnect
  • Aerospace or defence manufacturing
  • Technical distribution
  • Applications Engineering
  • Technical Sales / Internal Sales / Field Sales

You may currently be an Applications Engineer, Internal Sales Engineer, Technical Sales Engineer, Sales Engineer, Technical Account Manager or technically focused Business Development professional looking to develop your career further.

You don't necessarily need to have extensive external sales experience. Technical credibility, commercial awareness and the confidence to build relationships with engineering customers are more important.
