Regional Training Standards Manager – Business Aviation Training Centre

Vienna (Schwechat), CAE

About the Role

Join our Business Aviation Training Centre in Vienna (Schwechat) as the Regional Training Standards Manager, supporting CAE’s global Civil Aviation Training team. Our state-of-the-art 8,000-sqm facility, housing Full Flight Simulators (including G550, PH100/300, Global 7500, and Global 6000 Vision), is the most advanced pilot training environment in Central Europe. This role contributes to expanding capacity to nine simulators.

You will provide regional leadership for multiple training centres, ensuring:

  • Harmonised training standards
  • Alignment between global initiatives and local execution
  • High-quality delivery of instructor training

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead, coach, and evaluate Local Training Standards Leads, ensuring consistency, quality, and regulatory compliance
  • Translate global standards into actionable regional strategies
  • Oversee Civil Global IDT and other instructor training programmes

Strategic Planning & Performance

  • Monitor and analyse regional OKRs, KPIs, and metrics, including:
    • Instructor qualifications
    • Observation programmes (IPPM/DOI)
    • Audit findings
    • Training quality indicators
  • Identify regional trends, risks, and opportunities, driving data-informed decisions for the Global Head of Standards
  • Work across multi-site operations, managing cross-timezone and cross-cultural teams

Compliance & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Advise on regulatory interpretation while balancing operational needs
  • Collaborate with Operations to align business objectives with training timelines
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Minimum Qualifications

  • Valid/current EASA ATPL or CPL licence
  • Experience as an instructor under one of the following:
    • FAA instructor certificate
    • Part-FCL instructor certificate (EASA equivalent)
    • FDA/CG-authorised instructor (900(c) qualification)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience delivering or managing instructor training within an ATO or AOC environment
  • Extensive experience training MPA pilots for professional licences/ratings
  • Experience in Multi-Crew Cooperation (MCC) and Crew Resource Management (CRM)
  • Working knowledge of relevant regulations:
    • EASA Part-FCL/ORA and equivalent civil aviation rules
    • CFR Part 61, 135, 142 where applicable
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and influential skills
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse performance data (OKRs, audits, training metrics)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Teams, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Ability to navigate cultural diversity and time-zone differences

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting multiple training domains (e.g., BAT Functions Leadership, Flight Training Operations)
  • Managing complex ecosystems across diverse business units
  • Leading regional or multi-site programmes and harmonising global standards
  • Driving strategic initiatives at an executive level
  • Building cultures of excellence and operational excellence
  • Stakeholders globally, including senior leadership, governments, and operators
