Regional Underwriting Manager
Birmingham, Manchester, Leeds or Glasgow
Salary: Up to £115,000 + Car allowance + Excellent Benefits
IPS Group is working closely with one of the best names in the insurance market to support them with the recruitment of their Regional Underwriting Manager. This is a key position which holds the 2nd highest underwriting authority, 2nd only to their Chief Underwriting Officer. This is one of the most influential underwriting positions in the UK regional market.
As Regional Underwriting Manager, you'll be the highest technical underwriting authority across the region outside of the central technical function. Acting as the key link between branch underwriting leadership and the wider business, you'll play a pivotal role in helping regional teams win, retain and grow major client relationships while driving technical excellence and underwriting performance.
This is far more than a referral role. You'll be the person senior underwriting leaders turn to when they need solutions for complex risks, challenging placements and strategic opportunities. Combining technical expertise with strong commercial judgement, you'll help branches trade confidently, support growth ambitions and ensure underwriting standards remain industry-leading.
For ambitious underwriting professionals, this represents a genuine stepping stone towards future Chief Underwriting Officer, Technical Director and executive underwriting leadership positions.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
