Band 5 Plastics Dressings Clinic Nurse
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Plastics Dressings Clinic Nurse. This is an ideal role for a motivated proactive individual with plastics / wound care knowledge and experience to join our team. This post will include cross site cover, whilst we work predominantly at the UHCW site, we also cover Rugby St Cross on an Monday afternoon.
Please note this post is not suitable for applicants who are required to undertake the OSCE training programme. Applicants who do not have current valid UK NMC registration will not be considered for this post.
The Successful Candidate Must Have Post-preceptorship Experience.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, effective and compassionate nursing care to patients attending the plastic dressing clinic.
- Assess wounds, including size, depth, tissue type, exudate, odour, surrounding skin and signs of infection.
- Assess and manage post-operative wounds, grafts, flaps, donor sites and complex wounds within the nurse’s competence.
- Undertake VAC/NPWT dressing changes following appropriate training and competency assessment.
- Maintain aseptic technique and infection prevention and control standards during wound care.
- Monitor patients for complications.
- Escalate concerns promptly to the relevant healthcare professional.
- Provide patient education.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation, including wound assessment, dressing products, patient tolerance and escalation.
- Take and upload wound photographs in accordance with local policy and consent requirements.
- Liaise with members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Arrange appropriate follow-up appointments.
- Recognise safeguarding concerns and follow relevant Trust safeguarding procedures.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with NMC Code, Trust policies and professional standards.
- Maintain professional competence through mandatory training, CPD and competency-based training.
