Our goal at Version 1 is to ensure that a career in technology consulting is accessible to everyone. That's why our Academy is open to college/university graduates, career changers, returners to the workforce, and people with technical skills who want to experience a culture of recognition and reward. We believe that everyone deserves a chance to learn, grow, and succeed in the tech industry.
Our Early Careers Programme begins with a 12-week Digital Skills Academy, designed to equip you with the technical, professional and consulting skills needed to start a successful career in technology. Throughout the Academy, you'll be supported by the Early Careers Team, accredited training providers, mentors and senior technologists while building your knowledge, confidence and professional network.
Our Academies are bespoke and created with our Associates in mind. Through a specialised and supportive environment, you'll gain industry-recognised certifications and receive a training allowance. Following successful completion of the Academy, Associates who demonstrate engagement, professionalism and alignment with Version 1's core values will have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Associate Consultant role and continue their Early Careers journey with Version 1.
Weeks 1-8: Training delivered by Belfast Met.
- General learning across technologies and consultancy skills
- You'll meet Version 1 mentors and senior technologists to understand how these skills are applied in real customer projects
- A week dedicated to AI Native training, as well as Linux, Web Development, Cloud, FRESH and customer-facing skills included in the syllabus
Weeks 9-12: Specialisation in a specific technology area such as Java or Cloud, delivered by SERC.

Throughout the Academy training there are events delivered by the Early Careers Team, providing opportunities to build your network and learn more about Version 1's culture and values. We fully fund industry certifications across our partner network, including AWS, Microsoft and Oracle.
Upon Academy Graduation: Successful Associates will have the opportunity to progress into a permanent Associate Consultant role, working on real-world customer projects.
Progression is subject to successful completion of the Academy, attendance requirements, and demonstrating Version 1's core values and professional standards.
Associate Consultant Progression:
- Over your first 18 months, you'll be eligible for salary uplifts based on performance:
- 6 months: 5% increase
- 12 months: 5% increase
- 18 months: 10% increase
Qualifications
Key Requirements: Our Digital Skills Academies would be great if you:
- Have received a university degree classification of 2:2 in any STEM subject
- Love getting stuck into problem-solving and you don’t give up easily!
- Are passionate about technology consulting
- Eligible to work in the UK/ Ireland
- An added bonus if you have previous IT work experience or you participated in a Tech Bootcamp/course
