Sunderland
£38,468 per annum – salary increase after 6 months
Sunderland Services provide support to adults with learning disability, behaviours which can challenge services. The key focus of this management role is to lead and be accountable for the safe, effective, and person-centred care services.
You will lead a dedicated support team working with individuals with multifaceted needs including deafness, mental ill health and challenging behaviours. Working with the quality and PBS team, you will implement specialist behaviour support strategies, using structured behaviour support approaches, effectively managing periods of crisis or escalation, and maintaining a clear focus on reducing restrictive practice.
As the CQC Registered Manager, for supported living and outreach services in our Sunderland service, the role is accountable for service performance including quality, financial sustainability and trauma-informed care.

Main duties of the job
- Supporting adults with a learning disability and challenging behaviour in supported living settings in Redhouse and Ford Estate. Office base is in Boldon, which will be the main base of the role, combined with in service time.
- Managing a team of support workers to deliver high quality, consistent care and support people. Holding Personal Development Reviews (PDRs), team meetings and any other direct line management tasks.
- Work in a multi-disciplinary way and in partnership with stakeholders.

As a Care Manager, you’ll lead and develop a dedicated team to deliver safe, high-quality, person-centred support. You’ll take ownership of the day-to-day performance of your service, ensuring it operates effectively, efficiently and in line with legislation, best practice, contractual requirements and our PROUD values: Person-Centred, Respectful, Open, Understanding and Dedicated.
You’ll recruit, support and develop your team, identify training needs and create a positive culture where colleagues can perform at their best. With a sharp eye for detail, you’ll monitor quality, safety and outcomes, act quickly when improvements are needed, and ensure the rights, choices and wellbeing of the people we support remain at the heart of the service.
You’ll maximise opportunities for client participation, build effective relationships with families, colleagues, professionals and partner agencies, and contribute ideas that support the continued development of St Anne’s. You’ll also help manage budgets and resources responsibly, minimise voids and energy waste, and remain accountable for the overall quality and performance of your service.

Person specification
First Line Manager
Essential criteria
- NVQ Level 5 in Leadership and Management for Adult Care
Desirable criteria
- Experience of leading and managing Complex Care services for individuals with complex and multifaceted needs, including mental ill health, autism, learning disabilities and challenging behaviours
- Experience of holding full management accountability for a regulated service, including service quality, compliance, staffing, performance, budget management, and continuous improvement
