Role Description
The Registered Children’s Home Manager is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and operational management of a children’s residential home in Sittingbourne. This full-time, on-site role includes overseeing the safety, welfare, and care planning for children, ensuring high standards of practice and compliance with all regulatory and legislative requirements. The Manager will lead and supervise staff, manage rotas, conduct performance reviews, and promote a supportive, trauma-informed culture.

Key tasks include:

- Coordinating admissions and transitions
- Maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with external professionals and families
- Ensuring the home’s policies and procedures are consistently followed
- Managing budgets
- Contributing to service development
- Driving continuous improvement to deliver child-led, person-centered care
Qualifications
- Proven experience in managing or deputy managing a children’s residential home or similar care setting, with strong leadership and team management skills.
- In-depth understanding of children’s social care regulations, safeguarding practices, and Ofsted requirements, with the ability to ensure full compliance.
- Strong skills in care planning, risk assessment, and report writing, with meticulous attention to detail and record-keeping.
- Excellent communication, relationship-building, and conflict-resolution abilities when working with children, families, and multi-agency professionals.
- Demonstrated capacity to create nurturing, child-led environments that support emotional well-being, learning, and positive behavior.
- Competence in basic IT systems, including case management software, email, and document creation for effective home administration.
- Relevant qualification such as Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or working towards), or equivalent.
- Flexibility to work across a range of hours as required, including participation in an on-call rota, and commitment to continuous professional development.
