Pinar Care is seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Home Manager to lead The Oaks, our 10-bed nursing home supporting adults with learning disabilities and associated needs.
This is an opportunity to take full ownership of a small, person-centred service where you can be visible, build meaningful relationships and make a genuine difference to the lives of the people we support.
As Registered Home Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership, quality, safety, staffing, regulatory compliance and financial performance of the home. You will create an open and positive culture in which people are listened to, staff feel supported and high-quality care is delivered consistently.
The role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing visible, compassionate and values-led leadership across the home.
- Maintaining registration with the Care Quality Commission and ensuring compliance with the CQC Fundamental Standards.
- Ensuring people receive individualised support that promotes independence, dignity, choice, communication and inclusion.
- Maintaining high-quality care plans, health action plans, communication profiles and risk assessments.
- Acting as the service’s safeguarding lead and responding promptly to concerns.
- Ensuring the Mental Capacity Act, best-interest decision-making and least-restrictive practice are applied correctly.
- Promoting positive behaviour support and compassionate responses to behaviours of distress.
- Maintaining safe medication-management and auditing arrangements.
- Recruiting, developing, supervising and managing the performance of the staff team.
- Managing staffing rotas, training, supervision, competency and workforce requirements.
- Leading quality audits, service-improvement plans and preparation for CQC assessments.
- Managing incidents, complaints, safeguarding investigations and statutory notifications.
- Building effective relationships with families, advocates, commissioners, social workers and healthcare professionals.
- Leading admissions, pre-admission assessments and transitions into and out of the service.
- Managing the home within its agreed budget and monitoring staffing, agency and operational costs.
- Ensuring the premises remain safe, clean, comfortable and well maintained.
- Participating in the management on-call rota.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
