Role Description
The Registered Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Sway, Lymington, responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of a children’s residential service. This role includes:
- Overseeing care planning, safeguarding, and compliance with relevant regulations and standards
- Ensuring high-quality support for children with diverse emotional and behavioral needs
- Leading and developing the staff team
- Managing rotas
- Supervising and appraising team members
- Promoting a positive, inclusive culture
- Handling budgeting, reporting, and liaison with commissioners, social workers, and education providers, ensuring effective communication and continuity of care
- Maintaining accurate records
- Preparing for inspections
- Continuously improving service delivery

Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills, with experience supervising teams in a social care or residential setting
- Knowledge of children’s residential care regulations, safeguarding practices, and quality standards
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with children, families, and professionals
- Proven ability in service planning, risk assessment, recordkeeping, and report writing
- Relevant qualification in social care or management (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent, or willingness to work towards it)
- Experience working with children and young people with emotional and behavioral needs, and an understanding of trauma-informed practice
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions under pressure
- Comfort using digital tools for documentation, communication, and reporting
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusive practice, with a child-centered approach to care
- Ability to work flexible hours, including participation in an on-call rota as required
