Role Description
The Registered Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Shrewsbury, responsible for the operational leadership and regulatory compliance of a children’s residential service. The role involves overseeing day-to-day service delivery, ensuring high standards of care, safety, and well-being, and maintaining compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and inspection frameworks. The Registered Manager will lead, supervise, and support staff, manage rotas, conduct performance reviews, and promote a positive, inclusive culture focused on outcomes for children and young people. They will handle admissions and transitions, liaise with local authorities and external professionals, manage budgets and resources, and maintain accurate records and reports. The role also includes responding to incidents, implementing quality improvement plans, and ensuring that the service consistently delivers person-centered, trauma-informed support.

- Demonstrated leadership and people management skills, including team supervision, performance management, and the ability to build an inclusive and supportive culture.
- Strong service management and organizational skills, covering rota planning, resource allocation, record-keeping, and effective time management.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, and best practice in children’s residential care, with the ability to ensure compliance and respond appropriately to incidents.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with children, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
- Experience in behavioral health, social care, or children’s services, ideally within residential settings, with understanding of trauma-informed and person-centered approaches.
- Relevant professional qualification in social care, health, education, or a related field (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent), or willingness to work towards it.
- Proficiency in basic IT systems and documentation, including care records, reports, and regulatory submissions.
- Ability to work flexibly to meet service needs, including participation in on-call or emergency
