Registered Manager – Brand-New Children's Home, Hartlepool
£50,000 – £57,000 + £45 per on-call night | Monday to Friday, 9–5 | Some hybrid working
Most Registered Manager jobs give you a home that someone else built. This one lets you build it.
Changing Futures North East is a children's charity with more than 20 years in children's services across the Tees Valley. They are opening a brand-new children's residential home in Hartlepool and want the right person to lead it from day one.
There's no inherited culture, no tired systems and no Ofsted actions to clear up. You'll help register the home, hand-pick your team and set the standard yourself.
Why this role is different
- A blank page, not a handover. You'll shape the culture, the team and the way things are done from the very first day.
- Office hours in residential care: Monday to Friday, 9 to 5, with some hybrid working. There's a shared on-call rota at £45 a night, but not a rota that runs your life.
- Therapeutic support on your doorstep. The charity already employs counsellors, mental health practitioners and trauma-informed trainers, and you'll have regular reflective supervision and access to their in-house wellbeing service.
- A charity, not a chain. There are no shareholders, and everything is about children's outcomes and the people who care for them.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
