Role Description
The Registered Manager (Children's LD) is a full-time, on-site role based in Oldham, responsible for the operational management of a children’s learning disability service. The postholder will oversee day-to-day service delivery, ensuring high standards of care, adherence to regulatory requirements, and effective safeguarding practices.

Key tasks include:

- Supervising and mentoring staff
- Managing rotas
- Conducting supervision and appraisals
- Leading team meetings
- Handling referrals
- Completing assessments and care plans
- Maintaining accurate records
- Liaising with families, local authorities, and external professionals
The role also involves:
- Monitoring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance
- Managing budgets and resources
- Addressing incidents and complaints
- Driving continuous service improvement
Qualifications
- Strong leadership and service management skills, including team supervision, performance management, and the ability to coordinate day-to-day operations.
- Experience working with children and young people with learning disabilities, including person-centered care planning and behavior support.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks (e.g., Ofsted or equivalent), and best practices in children’s residential or health care settings.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, staff, and external professionals.
- Organisational and problem-solving skills, including record-keeping, report writing, and managing budgets and resources.
- Relevant professional qualification, such as Level 5 Diploma in Leadership for Health and Social Care or Children and Young People’s Services (or willingness to work towards it).
- Previous experience as a Registered Manager or in a senior role within children’s services or learning disability settings is highly beneficial.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion, and to promoting the rights, choices, and wellbeing of children and young people.
- Ability to work flexibly, including participation in an on-call rota as required, and to respond calmly and decisively in challenging situations.
