Salary

£44,610 - £48,162 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience

Hours

37.5 hours per week, with some flexibility

Contract

Permanent

On-Call

Occasional on-call duties, including scheduled weekends

Leaders In Care are working with a specialist residential family service in Central Plymouth to recruit an experienced Registered Manager to lead an established, specialist service supporting women and their children.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced residential childcare leader to take responsibility for the safe, effective and compliant running of a specialist family residential service, with a strong focus on safeguarding, trauma-informed practice and positive outcomes for children and families.

The service provides a structured residential environment where women can receive support around pregnancy, parenting, substance use, trauma, mental health and wider family pressures. It also provides parenting assessments, with child safety at the centre of practice.

The Role

As Registered Manager, you will lead a multidisciplinary team and take overall responsibility for the day-to-day running of the service.

You will:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary residential team.
  • Ensure the service operates safely, effectively and in line with Ofsted requirements.
  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding, care and risk management.
  • Develop a trauma-responsive workforce and positive working culture.
  • Oversee staffing, rotas, supervision and team development.
  • Build effective relationships with families, commissioners and other professionals.
  • Monitor quality assurance, audits, complaints and continuous improvement.
  • Manage budgets and expenditure, ensuring resources are used effectively.
  • Maintain optimal occupancy and service performance.
  • Participate in the on-call rota.
  • Ensure regulatory, statutory and safeguarding requirements are consistently met.

About You

We are looking for an experienced residential childcare professional who can demonstrate:

  • At least 2 years' residential childcare experience within the last 5 years.
  • At least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
  • Experience managing and developing an effective team.
  • Experience working with women and children.
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted and current residential care legislation.
  • A thorough understanding of safeguarding and risk management.
  • Experience of trauma-informed practice.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • The ability to manage complexity, competing priorities and challenging situations.
  • A professional, non-judgmental and compassionate approach.

You will need either an NVQ Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare, or be willing to work towards this within six months. Alternatively, Social Work England registration is accepted.
