About the Role
Axiom Home Care is a CQC-registered domiciliary care provider based in Hemel Hempstead, delivering care at home across Dacorum for Hertfordshire County Council and private clients.
We are looking for an experienced Registered Manager to lead our growing service and take responsibility for the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led delivery of domiciliary care.
This is an opportunity for someone who leads from the front, knows what good care looks like, and builds a culture where staff feel supported and families feel heard.
You will have established systems and support already in place, including digital care planning, rostering, policy and audit systems, an in-house Training Facilitator, and direct access to the Provider and quality support.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the safety and quality of care for clients across Dacorum.
- Provide visible, approachable and consistent leadership to care staff, seniors and office colleagues.
- Ensure accurate, person-centred care plans and risk assessments are maintained and reviewed.
- Lead the monthly audit programme and ensure actions are identified, allocated and followed through.
- Build strong relationships with clients and their families through regular visits and reviews.
- Manage complaints and concerns professionally and ensure appropriate follow-up.
- Lead safer recruitment, induction, supervision and appraisal.
- Work with the Training Facilitator to ensure staff training and competency requirements are met.
- Ensure new care packages are assessed, planned and safely staffed before care commences.
- Act as safeguarding lead and ensure concerns are appropriately escalated.
- Maintain the service risk register and ensure incidents, accidents and near misses are investigated and learned from.
- Maintain compliance with CQC fundamental standards and lead inspection readiness.
- Own the Service Improvement Plan and quality matrices.
- Monitor Hertfordshire County Council brokerage and attend contract meetings.
- Support the growth of private client work.
- Manage office, rostering and on-call arrangements.

About You
We are looking for someone with:
- Experience managing or deputising in a CQC-regulated adult social care service, ideally domiciliary care.
- Working knowledge of CQC fundamental standards, the Single Assessment Framework and Registered Manager responsibilities.
- A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Adult Care, achieved or currently enrolled with completion within 18 months.
- Strong experience of audits, quality assurance and service improvement.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations with clients, families and staff.
- Experience supervising, appraising and developing care teams.
- Sound knowledge of safeguarding adults and the Mental Capacity Act.
- Experience ensuring new care packages commence safely.
- A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work.

What We Offer
- £40,000–£45,000 per annum, depending on experience.

Important Information
The successful candidate will apply to the Care Quality Commission (CQC) to become the Registered Manager for the service. Axiom will support the registration application, and appointment is conditional on CQC registration being achieved.
This role requires:
- Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Two satisfactory references.
- Unrestricted right to work in the UK.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- CQC Registered Manager interview and approval.

Selection Process
Our selection process consists of two stages:
Stage 1: Interview with practical scenarios, including an audit review, difficult family conversation and mock inspection questions.
Stage 2: Short presentation covering your first 90 days in the role, meeting the team, and verification of qualifications, references and right to work.
