About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and inspirational Registered Manager to lead the development and delivery of our new Supported Lodgings provision and Supported Accommodation Service, being established in partnership with the National House Project.
At Birmingham Children's Trust, we are committed to ensuring that our 16 and 17-year-olds have access to high-quality homes and support that enable them to thrive as they move towards independence. The expansion of our residential and accommodation offer is a key part of this commitment, and this role presents a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping and embedding these services from the outset.
As Registered Manager, you will be responsible for the strategic leadership, day-to-day management, and continuous development of both services. You will oversee all aspects of service delivery, ensuring that young people receive high-quality, person-centred support that promotes positive outcomes and prepares them for independent living. You will also lead on the development and implementation of the service's Statement of Purpose, ensuring that it reflects best practice and the needs of the young people we support.
This is an exciting opportunity to join a forward-thinking and ambitious organisation during a period of growth and innovation. In return, Birmingham Children's Trust offers a supportive working environment, access to high-quality training and development opportunities, and a strong commitment to staff wellbeing and professional progression.
The successful candidate will be passionate about improving the lives of young people and dedicated to helping them realise their potential, aspirations, and ambitions. Your leadership, expertise, and commitment will be instrumental in creating a service where young people feel safe, valued, and empowered to succeed.
A key requirement of the role will be to achieve and maintain registration with Ofsted as the Registered Manager for 16-17 Supported Accommodation. You will ensure full compliance with all relevant regulatory and quality standards, driving a culture of continuous improvement and excellence with the ambition of achieving an Outstanding Ofsted judgement.
This is more than a management role; it is an opportunity to influence the future of services for care-experienced young people and make a lasting difference to their lives.
We have been rated as ‘Good’ by Ofsted, following a 2023 inspection. This is a fantastic achievement for Birmingham Children's Trust, with many positive highlights focusing on areas including the quality of staff leadership, partnership working, safeguarding and corporate parenting.
This is a hybrid role based in Birmingham so you must reside within a suitable commutable distance around Birmingham and have the correct right-to-work documents to work in the UK. Sadly, we do not support those who require sponsorship.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
