Role Description
The Registered Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Romford, responsible for the overall leadership and management of a residential care home for children and young people. In this role, the manager oversees day-to-day operations, including staff supervision, scheduling, and ensuring that care practices meet regulatory, safeguarding, and organizational standards. The Registered Manager develops and implements care plans, promotes the emotional and educational development of young people, and ensures that their voices are heard in decision-making. The role includes maintaining compliance with relevant legislation and inspection requirements, managing budgets and resources, and fostering a positive, inclusive culture within the home. The manager also liaises with families, local authorities, external agencies, and professionals to coordinate support and advocate for the best outcomes for each child.

Qualifications

- Demonstrated leadership and management skills within a residential or social care setting, including team supervision and performance management.
- Strong safeguarding, risk management, and regulatory compliance knowledge related to children’s residential care.
- Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and relationship-building skills with young people, families, and external professionals.
- Ability to develop, implement, and review individualized care and support plans that promote well-being, education, and social inclusion.
- Experience in quality assurance, report writing, record-keeping, and responding to inspections or audits.
- Relevant social care qualification (e.g., Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare or equivalent) or willingness to work toward it.
- Previous experience working with vulnerable children and young people, ideally in a residential environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Commitment to equality, diversity, and non-discriminatory practice in all aspects of care and management.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required to meet service needs.
