Skylark Ward, Avondale Unit, Royal Preston Hospital
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Part-time Band 5 staff nurse working 22.5 hours per week. Skylark ward is a specialist 11-bedded unit providing inpatient services for older adults.
Role Overview
The Unit provides assessment and interventions for clients, operates seven days a week, and is accessible 24 hours a day. We are inviting applications from RMN’s with Band 5 experience to join a dynamic forward-thinking nursing team.
Key Responsibilities
We are looking for highly motivated staff nurses who can demonstrate excellent clinical, leadership, and interpersonal qualities. The successful candidate must be willing to work in a fast-paced environment, have a positive outlook, and ensure that delivering a quality service, which genuinely engages with service users, carers, and other stakeholders, is a key priority.
- Work shifts covering 24 hours, seven days a week.
- Work within a multi-disciplinary team and carry out a diverse range of duties.
- Be regularly supported and supervised by a nominated Band 6 Nurse Specialist.
- Take personal responsibility for clinical supervision and your continued professional development plan.
- Promote teamwork, respect, integrity, accountability, excellence, and compassion within the clinical team in accordance with the Trust values and Code of Conduct.
- Maintain links with your professional body and provide evidence for the revalidation process.
- Provide nurse leadership within the multi-disciplinary team and ensure the effective assessment, formulation, planning, and monitoring of care given to service users.
- Exercise professional accountability and responsibility using skills, knowledge, and expertise in changing environments, across clinical boundaries, and in unfamiliar situations as outlined within the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
- Offer clinical and managerial leadership to junior Health Care Staff and Student Nurses as part of your role within the team.
- Take on tasks that require you to operate electronic staffing record systems, authorising periods of leave, sickness, and absence for junior nursing staff.
- Maintain a positive and open attitude towards organizational change and service development.
