Role Description
The Registered Mental Health Nurse role is a full-time, on-site position based in Derby. The nurse will provide compassionate, evidence-based mental health care to individuals with a range of psychiatric and emotional needs, including assessment, care planning, intervention, and evaluation. Daily responsibilities include administering medication, monitoring mental and physical health, maintaining accurate clinical records, and contributing to multidisciplinary team meetings. The role involves supporting recovery-focused care, engaging in therapeutic communication, managing risk, and promoting a safe, person-centered environment. The nurse will collaborate with other healthcare professionals, liaise with families and carers where appropriate, and adhere to all regulatory, safeguarding, and clinical governance requirements.

Qualifications

- Strong expertise in Mental Health Nursing and Mental Health Care, with the ability to deliver person-centered, recovery-oriented support.
- Solid foundation in Nursing and Medicine, including safe medication administration and monitoring of physical health in mental health settings.
- Understanding of Psychiatry principles and common mental health conditions, with the ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary care plans.
- Current registration as a Registered Mental Health Nurse (e.g., NMC registration) and eligibility to practice in the UK.
- Experience in inpatient, community, or complex mental health settings is highly beneficial.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build therapeutic relationships and de-escalate challenging situations.
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, inclusion, and maintaining high standards of clinical governance and compliance.
- Flexibility to work a range of shifts and collaborate effectively with diverse healthcare teams.
