About the Role
Maree Ward is a 14-bedded Acute step-down unit based in New Craigs Hospital. This unit provides assistance supporting people with mental health issues transition back into the community from hospital, learning new skills and re-establishing old skills in all areas of Activities of Daily Living. Our Multi-Disciplinary Team comprises medical, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and psychology, with access to support from social work.
Key Responsibilities
- Work as part of a highly motivated and encouraging team, adopting a person-centred approach to care, always aiming for a positive patient experience of admission.
- Motivated, demonstrating a commitment towards the continued development of patient-focused care whilst fostering a therapeutic ward environment.
- Proactively promote partnership working with patients, carers, and other professionals/agencies in line with legislative frameworks, agreed standards, and clinical policies.
- Supervise the practice of others, undertake mentorship/preceptorship responsibilities, and support the Senior Charge Nurse in the ongoing learning and development of the staff team.
Requirements
- Motivated and committed to the continued development of patient-focused care.
- Able to undertake duties without direct supervision.
- Supporting and supervising work undertaken by registered and unregistered nursing staff.
- Taking charge in the absence of the Senior Charge Nurse and the Team Leaders.
- RMN/RNMH registered with the NMC in the UK.
- Demonstrate strong values, with good communication and team-working skills.
- Active interest in Acute mental health and mental health would be advantageous.
