About the Role

In line with the philosophy of the clinical area, the post holder will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care for the identified service user group in conjunction with other staff.

To maintain high standards of nursing care to service users and to contribute to the development of a comprehensive psychiatric nursing service, which meets the needs of service users and carers.

To take charge of the Unit in the absence of the Unit Manager or deputy and to instruct/demonstrate knowledge and skills to junior staff.

All staff should comply with the Trust’s Anti-Discriminatory Statement, Employee Charter, Trust Policies and Procedures, Code of Conduct, and Equality and Diversity.

Main Duties of the Job

The Successful Candidate Will

  • Be a key member of the Inpatient Team
  • Be responsible/primary nurse for a designated group of patients
  • Be responsible for the assessment of their needs and for the planning
  • Implement and evaluate the care provided to meet service user needs
  • Provide clinical supervision to junior staff members
  • Have excellent communication and relationship management skills
  • Treat patients with fairness and respect, maintaining confidentiality appropriately
  • Assist the inpatients manager, the team, and charge nurses in maintaining standards of care
  • Be fully involved in ward rounds, handovers, and other meetings where patient care is discussed and reviewed as required
  • Participate in the assessment, admission, transfer, and discharge of patients according to local guidelines and standards.
