If the answer to the above is yes, then this is an exciting secondment opportunity and be a part of our team in the Combined Triage Assessment Unit (CTAU)
Responsibilities
There will be a requirement to work weekends and Bank Holidays on a rota basis.
We are ideally looking for an experienced Registered Nurse with demonstrable post-registration experience with acute and/or Oncology/Haematology experience, who will thrive in our bespoke assessment unit.
We are in search of driven, compassionate, and forward-thinking nurses to join our team to support the cancer patient journey when they become unwell as a result of their treatment.
You must be adaptable, able to thrive under pressure, a great team player, be able to empathise and to remain professional and positive during challenging situations.
The role entails telephone triaging, assessing, planning, and implementing care to acutely unwell patients. We have a 24-hour triage line where patients undergoing treatments for their cancer diagnosis can call the line for advice and assessment. For the most, our patients will attend CTAU for a period of a few hours and then are discharged home with a plan; some patients will be admitted directly to one of our cancer wards.

CTAU is open 7 days a week, currently 7:30 am - 8 pm week days and 8 am - 6 pm weekends and BH (weekend and BH hours may change to make the week days in the future).
Winter hours are staggered and extended from 08:30 am - 9 pm due to higher activity.

An average of 1115 patients are seen in A&Es across our network every day – 3rd largest in the country. Our hospitals admit an average of 195 emergency patients daily. Last year we undertook almost 33,700 planned surgical operations in our 57 operating theatres. We are one of only 7 Trusts nationally with more than 50 operating theatres. We carry out more than 140 elective procedures each working day.
