Job Overview
This is an excellent opportunity to train as you earn, studying for a 2 year Registered Degree Nurse Apprenticeship.
Academic teaching will be remote via online learning with some required academic sessions being held face to face in the Bristol campus.
Clinical learning and practice will be facilitated via a number of different placements within the RUH and with the possibility of placements at external clinical sites.
We are offering Adult nursing across the following areas MAU, ICU, and Pulteney. This will result in NMC Registration as a Band 5 Registered Adult Nurse on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
You will be supported in clinical practice by the Practice Education Facilitation team, clinical Assessors and Supervisors and academic support offered by Academic Assessors within the University.
On successful completion of the apprenticeship a Band 5 position will be offered within the Trust.
To Qualify Via The Apprenticeship Route, You Must
- have the right to work in the UK
- have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the past three years (excluding student visas)
- hold a visa that permits work and apprenticeship training (study visas are not eligible)
- gain new knowledge and skills beyond prior qualifications
- have sufficient time left on your visa to complete the programme
- not be undertaking another government-funded training programme
Evidence Of Eligibility Is Required.
Main duties of the job
Building on existing knowledge as a Registered Band 4 Nurse Associate or Assistant Practitioner, as an apprentice you will work towards progression into the post of Band 5 Registered Nurse on successful completion of the apprenticeship.
You will have gained your Trust competencies in medicine administration and shown you are able to maintain and develop the skills gained within your Band 4 role. At all times you must work in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct, maintaining clinical competence and NMC Registration as a Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner.
You will provide the highest standard of patient care, ensuring all care is in accordance with national and local policies and procedures and upholding trust values at all times.

You will be expected to rotate to a range of clinical placements to experience many aspects and specialties of nursing and to undertake a wide range of shifts to meet the NMC requirement for 24 hour care.
During the study periods you will learn via different platforms. This includes online lectures, simulated learning, in person training sessions and self directed study.

Essential criteria
- Maths & English Grades A – C / 4 – 9 /functional 2
- Level 5 or above qualification
- Care Certificate
- 9 months experience as a Band 4 in an acute care
- Trust Medicine Administration competency completed
- Not be undertaking another government-funded training programme
- Have been ordinarily resident in the UK for the past three years (excluding student visas)
- Have sufficient time left on your visa to complete the programme
