The Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Emergency Department in the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley. The Emergency Department is a dynamic and evolving speciality. We are seeking highly motivated and enthusiastic Registered Nurses to join our amazing team. Successful applicants should be able to work well within a multidisciplinary team in order to deliver a high standard of patient-focused care. Applicants should have high professional standards and excellent communication skills. Applicants will be self-motivated, ready to develop their clinical skills within a supportive department with existing strong leadership. Whilst being a busy department, we are friendly and approachable with a positive relationship across the whole team. We are excited to be welcoming new members to our existing team.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern:
- Location: based in Royal Alexandra Hospital
- Type: Permanent, full-time
- Shifts: Day and night shifts 7 days per week
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the assessment of care needs and the development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care for patients to ensure delivery of a high standard of care
- In the absence of the ward sister or deputy, take charge of the ward for the management of daily responsibilities, including work allocation, deployment and supervision of staff, to ensure smooth running of the area.
- Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives/carers and other members of the multidisciplinary team to ensure that appropriate information is shared and patient needs are met.
- Assist in monitoring standards of care within defined policies, procedures, standards and protocols of the ward to ensure adherence to, and delivery of, a high quality service
- Lead and supervise/mentor junior staff/students who are providing care to patients, and act as a source of advice to ensure their educational needs are met

Knowledge, Training, Qualifications and/or Experience Required to Do the Job:
- Registered Nurses on the NMC Register
- Previous respiratory/medical experience desirable
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Good IT knowledge and skills
- Advanced theoretical and practical knowledge of a range of clinical procedures and practices
- Knowledge of hospital policies/procedures and practices specific to the working environment
- Effective time management skills
- Ability to use initiative

From 1 April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will reduce from 37 hours to 36 hours. Part-time working hours will be reduced on a pro-rata basis. A corresponding increase in the hourly rate will apply, ensuring that overall pay remains unchanged.
