Registered Nurse - Outpatients (Fixed Term Maternity Cover)

| Full Time | Spire Harpenden Hospital

Spire Harpenden Hospital is looking to recruit a highly motivated, experienced and patient-focused Registered Nurse to join our busy and supportive Outpatients Department on a fixed-term contract covering maternity leave.

This is a full-time position (37.5 hours per week) offering the opportunity to work within a dynamic outpatient environment, providing high-quality care to patients across a wide range of specialties.

Working Hours

  • 37.5 hours per week on a rota basis, including:
    • Monday to Thursday: 7:30am - 9:00pm
    • Friday: 7:30am - 6:30pm
    • Saturday: 7:30am - 2:00pm

Flexibility is required to meet the needs of the department.

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Registered Nurse within the Outpatients team, you will be responsible for providing high standards of patient care and supporting consultants and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of clinics and procedures.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Delivering safe, effective and evidence-based patient care.
  • Assessing patients' health and wellbeing across a varied and changing caseload.
  • Supporting consultants during outpatient clinics and minor procedures.
  • Maintaining high standards of clinical practice and quality care delivery.
  • Liaising and collaborating with departments across the hospital to ensure seamless patient care.
  • Promoting best practice and contributing to continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Undertaking clinical procedures including wound dressings and other nursing interventions as required.
  • Supporting patients and relatives with compassion, professionalism and excellent communication.

Who We're Looking For

The successful candidate will have:

  • Current NMC registration with no restrictions or conditions.
  • Previous experience working within an Outpatients Department.
  • A passion for delivering outstanding patient care.
  • The confidence and ability to lead clinics effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and multitask.
  • Experience undertaking wound care and dressings.
  • Phlebotomy skills are desirable.
