An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate, motivated, and enthusiastic Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) to join the team at Elm Ward, based in Radlett, Hertfordshire.

About Elm Ward

Elm Ward is an 8-bedded specialist Learning Disability inpatient service providing assessment, treatment, and support for adults with learning disabilities and associated mental health, behavioural, and complex care needs. The ward offers a structured, person-centred, and therapeutic environment focused on promoting independence, improving quality of life, reducing restrictive practices, and supporting individuals to achieve their personal goals.

About the Role

We are looking for a Registered Learning Disability Nurse (RNLD) who is:

As a Staff Nurse (RNLD) on Elm Ward, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality nursing care to individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will support service users through assessment, treatment, rehabilitation, and discharge planning, promoting positive outcomes and enhancing quality of life.

In addition to providing direct clinical care, you will contribute to the effective management of the ward by coordinating shifts, supporting the Charge Nurse and Team Leader, and ensuring a safe, therapeutic, and responsive environment. You will act as a role model for junior staff, students, and new team members, promoting best practice and person-centred care.

The role requires flexibility to work a full range of shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and bank holidays.

What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a Registered Learning Disability Nurse who can demonstrate:

  • Excellent organisational and clinical skills.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic inpatient environment.
  • A sound understanding of learning disabilities, autism, positive behavioural support, and person-centred care.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A commitment to promoting dignity, equality, inclusion, and recovery.
