Job Description:
Reporting to Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing, planning implementation and evaluating nursing care and practice activities in a multidisciplinary family centered environment. You will be part of a supportive Oncology Clinic providing Chemotherapy and Biotherapy Services. You will be able to participate in continuous education opportunities and workshops to help further your education. You will be able to bring your passion of Oncology nursing to the department while advocating for patients and caregivers.

Requirements:
- Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS and Ontario Certificate of Competency
- Completion of deSouza Provincial Standardized Chemotherapy and Biotherapy certification at time of hire/transfer or successful completion within 6 months of joining the department (Cancer Care and Haematology)
- Completion of the deSouza Foundations in Oncology Nursing Practice or successful completion within 1 year of joining the department (Cancer Care and Haematology)
- Current (minimum 1 year) experience in RN acute care experience
- Experience initiating IV′s and management of central venous catheters and venous accessing devices, Current experience in Oncology or Palliative coupled with experience in administration of chemotherapy and biotherapy preferred
- Demonstrated critical thinking and nursing assessment skills for medically complex patient/family populations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment that focuses on patient centered care
- Ability to effectively apply Principles of Adult Learning for patients and families to actively facilitate treatment and education.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills utilized as a dynamic team player
- Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and documentation skills
- Demonstrated focus on internal/external customer service and partnership
- Demonstrates values consistent with SHN′s Code of Conduct and is committed to fostering a healthy and positive work environment in accordance with Health & Safety policy and legislation.
- Utilize protective equipment provided and identify and reports hazards
- Engages in ethical conduct and strives to understand and appreciate the diversity of our patient/staff population and community
- Excellent work performance and attendance record

- Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
- Oncology certification through the Canadian Nurses Association
- Ability to speak another language
