Registered Nurse

£22.15 per hour

This is a maternity cover role for 12 months with potential for permanent contract after.

Working Hours:
42 hours per week

About the Role

As a Registered Nurse, you will report directly to the Care Registered Manager and in her/his absence to the Care Manager. You will support the management team in the provision of high-quality clinical nursing care to residents that reflects best practice and meets the Health and Social Care Standards in line with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Report directly to the Care Registered Manager and in her/his absence to the Care Manager.
  • Support the management team in providing high-quality clinical nursing care.
  • Uphold the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Code of practice.
  • Promote and deliver excellent professional standards of care.
  • Monitor and maintain the health and well-being of residents.
  • Assist and guide care staff through effective supervision and support.
  • Support and assist your staff team by actively participating and overseeing the provision of direct resident care.
  • Problem solve, provide sound and practical advice to the care team.
  • Promote the organisation’s values, policies, procedures, and behaviors.
  • Work with colleagues from a variety of backgrounds with an approachable and solution-oriented style.
  • Support and drive the development of a positive working culture within Hollinwell House and Hatzfeld Care.
  • Promote the highest standards of clinical nursing by maintaining good working relationships with all members of the Hollinwell team.
  • Support and promote staff training and development.
  • Attend staff meetings and encourage input from the whole team on improvements to the service.
  • Ensure the provision of person-centred nursing care to residents.
  • Enable residents to enjoy a valued and fulfilled life.
  • Effective assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of resident’s care plans.
  • Support the care teams in their duty of care.
  • Ensure residents’ assessed needs are met.
  • Consult with residents and relatives in the development of the care plan.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, Health and Social Care Standards, Safeguarding, Health and Safety, Fire & Rescue Service, Environmental Health, Infection Control.
  • Work collaboratively with the Care Inspectorate and any other regulatory bodies identified.
  • Ensure the safety and security of the care home building whilst on duty.
  • Carry out full security checks and measures at the start of your shift and monitor regularly throughout the shift.
  • Adhere to Hatzfeld’s Policies and Procedures at all times.
  • Have full knowledge and understanding of the fire panel, process for raising the alarm, contacting the fire service, and what to do in the event of fire.
  • Ensure resident fire evacuation plans (PEEPs), business continuity plan, and evacuation plan are followed.
  • Maintain safe custody of all medications in your area of responsibility when on duty.
  • Administer medication in accordance with best practice guidance, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor stock throughout the “drug cycle” and ensure adequate stock is in place.
  • Support the Medication Co-ordinator’s pharmacy ordering process.
  • Ensure care staff assisting with “controlled” drug medication have the knowledge, understanding, and appropriate training.
  • Respond to feedback, suggestions, or complaints from residents, relatives, or the staff team.
  • Be a role model for the delivery of excellent standards of infection control.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies, procedures, standards, and protocols.
  • Support staff induction, training, and development & ongoing/refresher training.
  • Participate in any required training (e.g., Moving & Handling, Infection Control, Promoting Excellence in Dementia, Palliative/End of Life Care).
  • Contribute to the auditing process to ensure robust quality assurance systems.
  • Delegate staff workload, considering staff experience and skill mix.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective use of resources.
  • Maintain active status on NMC register and act in accordance with NMC Code of Conduct.
  • Undertake any additional training responsibilities required to support staff development.
  • Participate in named nurse responsibilities.
  • Participate in the business continuity response to major incidents.

  • Care planning and assessment of residents, including implementing, developing, and integrating these as required.
  • Supervise and assess student placements and the learning & development of trainee senior carers & qualified senior carers.
  • Ensure regular staff “check-ins” within your team and that sessions are private & confidential.
  • Assess and manage risk as it relates to your team objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant policies and procedures and contribute to the development of policies and procedures.
  • Provide accurate and timely management information relating to your team’s performance and how this contributes to overall business performance.
  • Ensure all required audits are carried out timeously and action plans are developed where necessary for quality assurance purposes.
