Company Description

Location: Southport

Pay Rate: £38.25 per hour at all times

Shifts Available:

  • Days: Monday to Friday 7am until 11am, 3pm until 9pm
  • Days: Saturday/Sunday 7am until 2pm, 3pm until 9pm
  • Nights: Monday-Sunday 9pm until 8am

Job Description

This is a role for those with complex care experience to lead care for a young adult with Beckwith-Weidman Syndrome and Unique Chromosome Disorder, due to this they have a Chiari Malformation, Scoliosis of the back, have had spinal fusion surgery. They are TPN dependent, have a Tracheostomy and use a Ventilator and have developmental delays.

You will lead on all aspects of their care including, TPN (Jejunostomy in situ), Tracheostomy and Ventilator Management, Mobility, Medication and supporting them and family to go outside and access the community.

Our client is non-verbal but can communicate using some sign language, enjoys feeding ducks, going for walks to the lake or pond, watching children's YouTube videos, listening to music and drinking froth of their Coffee.

This is a unique role to make a real difference to this young adult and their family, it will be challenging yet rewarding but no day will be the same. Our client enjoys interactions but needs strong communication skills as at times can exhibit challenging behaviours.

Qualifications

  • TPN experience with Children or Adults is required.
  • Tracheostomy and Ventilator experience is required.
  • Medication, Mobility and Complex Care experience is required.
  • Experience of working with a similar disorder or a young person with complex learning and behavioural disabilities is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport, deal with challenging situations and remain calm.
