Reporting to the Manager, and under the guidance of an RN and RPN, the Personal Care Assistant (PCA) will assist with routine activities of patient care within the agreed upon plan of care and will be performing cross-functional and other duties consistent with the job classification or clinical specialty, as required. The PCA promotes an environment that is optimal for the physical, social and emotional well-being of our patients.
Qualifications
Required:
- Certificate of Completion of the Personal Support Worker Program from a recognized Community College or a combination of relevant experience and education preferably from an acute care facility.
- Current CPR
- Recent experience in a healthcare facility
- Successful completion of corporate Code White training (to be provided)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Working knowledge of Infection Control Practices
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team
- Excellent organizational and patient assessment skills
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills with patients, families and other healthcare professionals
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and interpersonal skills
- Commitment to continuing education and professional development
- Ability to work all shifts
- Recent satisfactory performance and attendance records
