Registered Veterinary Nurse – 10-Month Part-Time Contract, Holmefield Vets

About the Role

We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-orientated Registered Veterinary Nurse to join our team at Holmefield Vets on a part-time 10-month contract.

Practice Overview

Holmefield Veterinary Clinic is a friendly, long-established 100% small animal practice with an experienced and loyal team. We foster a strong, inclusive culture where everyone is encouraged to follow their interests and achieve their best. Recent achievements include completing the Vets Now Emergency and Critical Care Certificate, reflecting our commitment to learning, development and clinical excellence.

Our main site is located in the beautiful village of Brayton, with a smaller branch practice in Sherburn-in-Elmet, in North Yorkshire—a stunning semi-rural area with an excellent lifestyle balance and transport links.

Selby offers direct trains to London, Manchester and Leeds, while York is just a 20-minute drive away.

Key Responsibilities

As a Registered Veterinary Nurse, you will be an integral part of the clinical team, ensuring high-quality nursing care for patients and supporting exceptional client experiences.

  • Collaborate with veterinary surgeons and the broader practice team
  • Take responsibility for nursing care, including first opinion medical and surgical cases
  • Contribute to clinical standards and continuous clinical improvement
  • Perform theatre work, inpatient care, consultations, and general nursing duties

Your Working Pattern

  • Hours: 30 per week
  • Shift pattern: Tuesday (8:30am–2:00pm), Wednesday (8:30am–7:00pm), Thursday (8:30am–6:00pm), Friday (8:30am–2:00pm)
  • No weekends or out-of-hours rotas

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a confident, motivated Registered Veterinary Nurse who thrives in a team environment and is committed to delivering excellent standards of care.

Ideal candidates will have: ✅ Registration as a Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS ✅ Clinical practice experience, including growing confidence in medical and surgical nursing ✅ Strong communication skills to build positive client and colleague relationships ✅ Good organisational abilities and workload management skills ✅ Proactive approach to learning, reflection, and professional development
