The Role
The future of energy trading is changing. As renewable generation, battery storage, automation and advanced analytics continue to reshape the GB electricity market, we're interested in hearing from talented Traders and Senior Traders who want to be part of one of the UK's leading energy businesses.
Whether your expertise lies in short-term operations, asset optimisation, wholesale markets, trading strategy or risk management, you'll join an established and collaborative trading environment where commercial judgement, innovation and continuous learning are highly valued. Working safely and responsibly, you'll help optimise portfolios, manage market risk and unlock value in increasingly dynamic energy markets while contributing to the transition towards a more flexible, low-carbon energy system.
You will
- Collaborate with experienced colleagues to optimise energy portfolios, identify trading opportunities and manage risk in a safe and controlled manner.
- Monitor market fundamentals, evolving regulations and operational conditions to support informed and commercially sound decision-making.
- Develop and execute trading and hedging strategies that balance value creation with strong governance and risk management.
- Build positive relationships across trading, commercial, operational, analytics and technology teams to deliver the best outcomes for the business.
- Embrace innovation, data and technology to support the continued evolution of trading and optimisation capabilities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
Start with a chat, not a search bar
Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
