The Team
The Assessment team, made up of Registry Advisors and Registry Officers are responsible for delivering a broad range of assessment activities, including examination and assessment administration, the processing of marks and results, academic progression and the administration of University Assessment Boards.
The team work closely with Programme Administration Support Services and academic colleagues, providing expert advice and guidance on assessment-related matters. They also support academic colleagues in meetings with students where specialist assessment knowledge and advice are required.
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and highly organised Assessment Manager to lead and manage the delivery of key assessment and examination processes across the University.
Working as part of Registry with Student and Academic Administration, you will play a central role in ensuring that assessment processes are delivered effectively, consistently and in accordance with the University's academic regulations, policies and procedures.
You will work closely with academic colleagues, professional services teams and senior stakeholders to ensure that assessment processes are efficient, accurate and provide an excellent experience for students and staff.
Required Skills
We are searching for someone that can demonstrate the following:
- Experience of managing and developing a team.
- A detailed understanding of assessment and examination processes within a higher education environment.
- Experience of interpreting and applying complex academic regulations and policies.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to work with senior stakeholders and academic colleagues.
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Good technical skills with experience of using student record systems and other relevant technologies.

This team operates using agile working such that your time is split between working from home and having some on-site presence (at our York Campus). Flexible working is supported and you are welcome to discuss further details about agile working in practice should you be invited to interview.
It is anticipated that the selection process will include an interview and candidate assessment.
